At its April meeting, the vestry unanimously adopted the following statement:
The Chapel of the Cross is a house of prayer for all people.
We believe, in the words of St. Paul, that “in Christ there is neither slave nor free, Jew nor Greek, nor is there male and female,” but we are all one in Christ.
The Vestry of the Chapel of the Cross deplores in the strongest possible terms the new state law HB2 that prevents cities and towns from creating laws to protect members of the LBGTQ+ community and others from discrimination.
We call on the North Carolina General Assembly to repeal this law as soon as possible. We call on other faith communities to join us.
